Moss was born on February 13, 1977. He is an American football player. He was a
player for the Minnesota Vikings (Oak Raiders), New England Patriots (New
England Patriots), Tennessee Titans (Tennessee Titans), and the San Francisco
49ers in the National Football League. Along with Jerry Rice, he is generally
regarded as the most outstanding wide receiver of all time. Moss holds the NFL
single-year touchdown reception record (23 in 2007) as well as the rookie NFL single
season touchdown record (17 in 1998). He is also as the second highest in the
NFL all time regular season touchdown receptions list with 156. Moss is known
for his ability secure contested catches. The word "mossed", which is
now a part of the vocabulary of football, became popularized due to this. After
his career in football and broadcasting, he began working as a studio analyst
for ESPN for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night Countdown.
Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. Moss was a student at DuPont High School.
This was one of two schools later combined to form Riverside High School. He
excelled in basketball, football and baseball. Randy was also a member of the
school’s debate team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player that led them
to back-to-back state championships, in 1992 and 1993. Moss was an outstanding
wide receiver however, he also played free safety as well as returned punts and
kickoffs, as well as was the team's kicker and punter. He was awarded the
Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football Player's of the Year in the year 1994.
Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football teams in
the year 1995. In 2009 they named him as one of the 50 most outstanding high
school footballers of all time.
