Ronny Chieng
Ronny Xin Yichieng, born on 21 November, 1985 in Malaysia is an actor and comedian. Chieng is currently the senior correspondent of The Daily Show on Comedy Central. He also produced and starred in the sitcom Ronny Chieng International Student, which premiered on ABC Australia (Australia) in 2017. Chieng was born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to an Malaysian Chinese family. From 1989 to 1994, he lived in Manchester in New Hampshire. Chieng appeared in a comedy festival that took place in Melbourne, Australia in 2013, with Trevor Noah. Chieng was then asked to audition for the position of correspondent on Noah's Daily Show two years after. In July 2016 Chieng was selected as one of 10 Comics to Watch by Variety In October, Chieng appeared on The Daily Show to offer his take on Jesse Watters Fox News segment that was criticized by some as being racist. Chieng offers a scathing critique of the show on the conservative network. He also visited NewYork City's Chinatown in which Watters ridiculed the residents. The viral video received coverage in Slate and Washington Post. In his youth, Chieng was an Singapore Sea Scout. Even though he's lived in Australia for a decade, he does not have citizenship or permanent residency status in Australia. Chieng made an absurd joke about being cynophobic during 2018's Daily Show. However Chieng later claimed that he is "100 percent not scared of dogs" in an interview.
